As much as I’m obsessed with the joy aseasonal refreshcan bring, it’s honestly impractical to suggest picking up a whole new interior every month. Home revamps are pricey—not to mention environmentally iffy thanks to all the waste. Which is exactly why this latest collab is genius:West Elm is teaming up with Rent the Runway to launch a series ofrentable decor bundlesfor the bedroom and living room. It’s the fickle decorator’s dream come true.

The program follows the same model as Rent the Runway’s regular clothing service. Here’s the vibe: using your Rent the Runway Unlimited or Update subscription, choose from the 26 decor bundles available. You can keep your temporary pieces anywhere from a couple of weeks to months, and should you find yourself unable to part with your new geometric-print throw pillows (relatable), you’ll have the option to buy the bundle at a discounted rate.

Each bundle was carefully curated byWest Elmand includes a mix of new and seasonal pieces. Bedroom bundles come with aquilt, coverlet, throw, blanket, shams, and decorative pillows; living room bundles feature a pairing of throw pillows and/or a throw. Best of all, the collab is totally customizable, so you’ll have a whole array of styles and pieces to choose from. Chef’s kiss.

“We thought through who [the customer] was and why [they were] interested in renting—whether it was to save time or to help the more novel design enthusiast who isn’t sure how to mix and match colors and patterns,” says West Elm spokesperson Dru Ortega of how they created each bundle with the customer in mind. “These bundles allow you to make your everyday space feel fresh and special.”

Aside from renters and indecisive decorators, another crowd that’ll find this upcoming collab super appealing? New homeowners. Honestly, the struggle ofoutfitting a new placecomes down to uncertainty. Can’t decide between classic neutrals or vibrant prints? Try them both out over the span of a week to see how the styles vibe with your space before committing full-time.

But honestly, the most interesting part of the West Elm x Rent the Runway partnership is what it signals about a shifting retail landscape—one that can no longer ignore the very real demands of sustainability, even if it still leans toward a “fast furniture” model. Sustainability has long been at the crux of both brands’ philosophies. If this model takes off (which, let’s be real, we’re already certain it will), it could signal the advent of a whole new form of responsible design consumerism: renting.

“We are helping [the client] make more conscious purchase decisions by actively participating in the circular and sharing economies,” explains Ortega of the rental economy. “There is a built-in demand with our customer base that’s already giving our products second lives, so we know renting and buying already do co-exist.”

It’s definitely a movement, you guys: other huge brands likeIKEAare already on board with testing rental furniture. Plus, with rental pieces this chic, who even needs to buy? Obsessed.
